About

I’m a boomer (albeit one from the tail end of the pack), and live in Vancouver, Canada. You’ll often find me with camera in hand, looking for new ways to bring Vancouver to the world, or bringing images of the world home to Vancouver.

A bit late to the travel game, there’s no claim here to bringing the entire world your way, but my passport history is becoming increasingly eclectic.

What kind of travel?

All sorts. I need to be out in the natural environment, and also love sunshine, sandy beaches and cities.

I adore older hotels and properties of character, and exploring cities by foot and metro. While it’s historic properties that make my heart melt, I enjoy architecture and good design, period.

While readily acknowledging innocence of art expertise, I do know what strikes me – and, as a result, stops at museums and art galleries form part of most journeys. Out and about in other cities, public markets provide slices of local life. Speaking of local life, anyone interested in visiting Vancouver will find plenty here about the place I call home.

Whatever the country or continent, you’ll find me pausing to capture plant life, nature and people. I hope that, in reading my stories, you’ll find new insights and inspiration for your own upcoming travels.

Hotel Reviews

I get to visit a number of cities, and treat each trip as an opportunity to explore new properties. The photos you’ll see are all my own, and reflect our experiences.

You’ll find unbiased reviews and stories about stays in different hotels, and you’ll want to know that most of these stays are hosted or sponsored.

It’s important to have a look at a variety of hotels and properties in which you might stay. It’s also important to see what you can do while you’re in these locales.

Here are some samples of journeys I’ve shared so far.

  1. Great site Shelagh. Loved your Chicago post as visiting it for the first time in August of this year.
