Cannon Beach, Oregon

How’s this for the morning view off your balcony?

We’ve made our way to Oregon where, after a couple of days in Portland, we’re enjoying an oceanfront stay  at Cannon Beach while others watch over the home front. This beach is famous for its 237-foot high Haystack Rock and other outcrop, and last night’s sunset was more than impressive, but I’ll start here with the sites that met my eyes on our first morning at the beach.

On day two, I was reminded that there are definite advantages to being woken by seagulls shortly before 6:00 a.m.

This was a great opportunity to catch the beach in early light, and without clusters of people here and there. Having said that, I did want to capture this brightly attired early morning stroller and her three pooches, simply to offer some contrast to the gentle reflections of sky and clouds in the shallow waters of the beach.
