All is Calm

Perched above the lighthouse in West Vancouver’s Lighthouse Park, we have nature’s original infinity pool, with scatterings of sailboats and some motor boats enjoying great boating weather.

Sunday Morning

… and water lovers of all types are sailing, motoring, kayaking or working in Vancouver’s waters. It’s typical to see a dozen or more of the large ships in harbour, with sailboats gracefully gliding past.

Hydrotherapy

Today, we have a marriage of Spain, as seen in the photo from Cap de Formentor, above, and France, below.

Followers may know that I like to play with shop windows, and the reflections to be found therein. Below, we have a poster found in a shop not far from the Paris Opera House (Palais Garnier), with its reflection of the Maison del Thermalisme across the street.

This, naturally (or not),  led me to wonder whether the subject of the poster just might be contemplating how lovely it would be to escape the city for a trip to the sea … and perhaps the breaktaking blue waters of the Mediterranean.

Cast in Gold

… or so it would seem, to someone glancing at the Louvre at sunset. I could offer thoughts on the architecture, the lighting, and the moment of relative quiet as Bastille Day celebrants were off enjoying dinner before the fireworks, but think I’ll just stop and let you imagine yourself here.

Comes With A Pool

… and much, much more, although the maintenance would be substantial.

All of which is another way of saying I appreciated the Palace of Versailles, inside and out. Here is just one of a number of statues situated throughout the gardens – which I suggest are at least as impressive as the architecture of the actual palace.

Squamish Nation

Driving the Sea to Ski Highway between Vancouver and Whistler, there’s splendid scenery every where around you. Here, just west of Lions Bay, you can pull off to the side of the road to take in the views of mountains, forests, water and more. Here, with blackberry bushes as part of the backdrop, we have homage to Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw, also known as the Squamish Nation.

Summer Casual

Europe. Early summer. Evening is approaching. Just not quite here.  Young tourists all ’round, dressed for the summer heat. Tucking the camera away, but with an unintended click and image.

Señoritas and Swans

… with a few dapper young men thrown in for good measure.

I’d have guessed that these lovely young señoritas and their escorts were gathered for graduation photos, but the presence of the little girl in the centre of the image above  – with her own pint-sized version of the others’ dress – made me wonder. We’d again stopped by Palma’s cathedral to photograph the swans when this happy group came along. While one of the girls had, as evidenced by her tiara and more formal gown, been crowned the belle of their ball, each of the girls shone.

The Popular Girl

Once the popular girl, always the popular girl. Surrounded by people decades younger than them, these three fellows had eyes and ears only for the gal in their midst.

Some things do change with age, though, and these front-end boomers were clearly thoughtful of protecting their skin from the sun on yet another gorgeous sunny evening.

Birthday Party

Walking through a neighbourhood park a couple of weeks ago, we came across a family setting streamers around the perimeter of this structure. The day was perfect, the colours vivid, and the birthday boy – proudly turning five – was very happy, even after he broke the streamer when jumping to show us he could reach that high!
