Wildfire Sunset

In British Columbia, summer wildfires are no longer anomalies. We were among those evacuated from our home during the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Park Fire, but were among the fortunate whose homes were not lost.

As of earlier this week, a total of 184 wildfires were burning across beautiful BC, resulting in a number of evacuations, significant reductions in air quality, and worse. Wildfires are also a concern two provinces to the east of us, where roughly 13,000 people from northern areas of Saskatchewan have been evacuated from their homes.

In the midst of all this, Vancouverites continue to make our way to various beaches, where there is great beauty through the haze. These are some shots from last evening at Spanish Banks.

    • Thanks, Laura. I wish I could take the credit, but can only agree that the skies and fires created gorgeous lighting to be captured.

      • Agreed. We were down at the beach the night before, and I was kicking myself for not having my camera with me (just the smartphone), so last night was a bonus. 😀
